Additional Capacities

Walvis Bay has a well sheltered harbour with good anchorage at 14m depth as well as a quayside depth of 12m. Namdock’s affiliation with Namport gives us the competitive edge in securing berthing space for our clients which allows us access to common user facilities at the Namport Synchrolift that can lift vessels up to 2,000t and allows a displacement of 80m in length overall, 12m in width. The synchrolift area has 4 x 80m repair quays with 8m draft which Namdock utilises for alongside/pier repairs.

Walvis Bay is Namibia's largest commercial port with direct access to principal shipping routes and is a natural gateway for international trade. Walvis Bay offers sheltered, deep water anchorage enhanced by temperate weather conditions, easy access by road and air, easy visa regime for visitors and good telecommunications, road and financial infrastructure. Walvis Bay offers a number of advantages over other Southern African ports, being considerably closer to the extensive West Coast oil fields for one as well as its competitive positioning and integral part of the Walvis Bay Corridor Group has  made Walvis Bay the ideal port of entry to the leading trade route in southern Africa. Our overall critical success factors are political stability, stable workforce, capacity, capabilities, safety record and affordability.
